Over the weekend, a cross-state criminal investigation came to a head in Knoxville as local authorities apprehended two men on multiple charges, including one suspect involved in a recent Alabama shooting. Details from WVLT describe the capture of 26-year-old Abdul Khalil’Llah of Anniston, Alabama, who was also wanted out of Georgia for failing to appear on a weapons charge and Varrenzo Bradford, also 26, from Statham, Georgia, in possession of illicit drugs and a firearm.
According to WVLT, detectives managed to locate Khalil’Llah to an Airbnb on Greenbrier Drive where he and Bradford were spotted leaving in a car the officers then stopped taking into custody not just Khalil’Llah and Bradford but also detaining a man and woman found at the Airbnb, though they were not charged with any crime. As reported by WATE, investigations by the Knoxville Police Department's Organized Crime Unit and the ATF led to the discovery of two additional firearms and a drum magazine at the rental property in conjunction with the arrests.
Khalil’Llah faces charges as a fugitive from justice for the Georgian warrant, while the Knoxville Police Department also charged Bradford with being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony, as per WATE. "Additional charges are pending from the stop and search warrant on Monday, while the investigation into the shooting in Alabama is continuing," stated the Knoxville Police Department.
In a follow-up to the initial operation, investigators from Alabama traveled to Knoxville to join local law enforcement and ATF agents in conducting interviews and processing evidence related to the case, as noted by WBIR, in their continued effort to piece together the events that led to the suspects' capture, this included the alleged shooting in Alabama and the web of criminal activity stretching over several states. Further information around the case and subsequent charges are pending as the multi-state investigation proceeds.
