In response to the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene, the City of Tampa has launched a temporary permit service for residents needing to repair storm damage. According to the City of Tampa official website, these "Pop-Up Permit Centers" aim to support reconstruction efforts in the affected community.

From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., city staff will be available to assist residents at two locations—Marjorie Park Marina and DeSoto Park—for the next two weeks. They will help homeowners, contractors, and subcontractors navigate the permit process. The city's interim administrator, Abbye Feeley, emphasized the goal of providing prompt and comprehensive support for rebuilding the storm-affected community.

According to a recent announcement from the City of Tampa, some repairs do not require a building permit. These include minor repairs like drywall work, small roofing jobs, interior finishes such as painting and carpeting, and simpler tasks like fence repairs, soffit and fascia patching, and replacing exterior doors, as long as the framing remains intact. Feeley expressed a sense of urgency and commitment, stating, "Our goal is to streamline the process and support our citizens through each step as efficiently as possible as we seek to maintain our community's long-term resilience."
