Early Friday morning, a fire broke out at the Scrap King scrap yard in Tampa, threatening the surrounding area. Local fire crews quickly responded after reports of heavy smoke and visible flames at the property on Dover Street, according to WFLA News.
Upon arrival around 6:21 a.m., firefighters found large piles of scrap material on fire, complicating the situation. This incident marks the third fire involving debris since Hurricane Milton swept through Tampa Bay. Similar incidents have been reported in the region, including at least one that required the evacuation of a neighborhood in St. Petersburg, as reported by ABC Action News.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The crews subdued the fire in under sixty minutes, preventing any reported injuries and demonstrating an efficient emergency response. "Thanks to an aggressive and well-coordinated attack, our crews controlled the fire in under an hour," fire officials stated in an announcement from Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, as relayed by WTSP.
