Last night, a 19-year-old man was wounded in a shooting incident that has now become a subject of a District 5 investigation. According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting took place around 8:30 p.m. last Sunday in the Wells / Goodfellow neighborhood, a location that has seen its fair share of violent incidents.
The young man, whose identity has not been released, recounted to officers that he was inside his car at the intersection of Clara & Theodosia when he was approached by two male suspects. The encounter, which began with a seemingly benign inquiry about marijuana, abruptly escalated. "The teen said he heard gunshots and then accelerated from the scene," after conversing with the suspects, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department detailed. A bullet struck him in the face, an injury severe enough to send him in search of immediate help.
Following the shots, the victim managed to navigate his vehicle to a nearby gas station, a place he deemed safe enough to call for aid. It was there that the St. Louis police were contacted, and EMS swiftly arrived to attend to the injured teen. He was promptly transported to a local hospital and has since been listed in stable condition.
The search for the suspects who turned a young man's evening into a tableau of violence is ongoing. The SLMPD is urging the community to come forward with any information that could lead to an arrest, or at least shed light on the circumstances surrounding the shooting. "Anyone with a tip about this incident who wants to remain anonymous and is interested in a possible reward for their tip can contact CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS (8477)," the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department stated.
