Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has openly called on the federal government to provide details regarding the citizenship status of individuals registered to vote in the state. In a recent move, Paxton sent a letter insisting that the Biden-Harris administration supply him with pertinent data to investigate the potential of noncitizen voters, as reported by the Texas Attorney General's Office.
The demand follows Paxton's encouragement sent to the Texas Secretary of State on September 18, asking for federal assistance to quickly verify the citizenship status of voters who lack Texas-issued identification cards or driver’s licenses, as detailed by the Texas Attorney General's Office. In his quest to secure a list of the roughly 450,000 voters whose status remains unchecked, Paxton is ready to personally ensure that the process is expedited, even if it means directly contacting federal officials himself.
In a statement that reflects his firm stance on the issue, Paxton declared, "I demand full cooperation from the federal government to ensure that any noncitizens remaining on Texas’s voter registration rolls are identified." He further emphasized the legal duty of the federal government, stating, "The Biden-Harris Administration is legally obligated to assist States in doing so, and it is imperative that we use every tool available to uphold the integrity of our elections," as stated by the Texas Attorney General's Office.
