A recent spate of thefts from vehicles and vehicle tampering cases have come to a close, with the arrest of a suspect identified as Randall Sellner. The series of incidents, which took place in the Thousand Oaks area, resulted in the theft of cash, credit cards, and personal items from several unlocked vehicles. According to a news release, the crimes occurred between September 12 and September 16, 2024, and specifically targeted neighborhoods known as Rancho Conejo and Arbor Hills.

Evidence collected at various locations allowed detectives from the East County Investigations Property Crimes Unit to pinpoint 28-year-old Sellner, a resident of Thousand Oaks, as the prime suspect. Upon conducting a probation search at the suspect’s home, detectives found evidence tying him to the thefts. Sellner, who was already in custody on unrelated charges, faces additional charges of Petty Theft and Vehicle Tampering. He was scheduled for arraignment on October 2, 2024, at the Ventura County Superior Court.

The Thousand Oaks Police Department has responded to these episodes by reminding residents of the necessity to secure their belongings. "Remove it, Lock it, Keep it," the department advises, urging the community to be proactive in preventing such crimes.

While Thousand Oaks grapples with these infringements upon its quietude, the police department's East County Investigations Property Crimes Unit is not losing stride. It "continues to combat property crimes through keeping the community informed of current crime trends while aggressively pursuing and arresting those that chose to do us harm," as per the statement from Detective Kevin Walters. In these challenging times, their commitment to public safety stands as a bulwark against the disorder sown by criminal actions.

Ventura County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest and criminal complaint against those responsible for these crimes. They assure tipsters anonymity, guaranteeing their calls aren't recorded through the toll-free number 800-222-TIPS (8477).
