Last week's high-speed chase through San Bernardino County culminated in the arrest of three individuals after the suspect vehicle, engaged in a high-action pursuit involving multiple law enforcement agencies, hit two police cruisers and maneuvered dangerously on the sidewalk. According to KTLA, the incident began just after 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 5 when patrol officers from the Montclaire and Ontario police departments pursued a stolen vehicle into Upland. The suspects' escape attempt, tracked by Ontario PD's helicopter, drew to a close when they abandoned the car and fled on foot at a nearby apartment complex.
In a dramatic twist recorded by body-worn cameras, footage shows the suspect trio scattering as police officers chased them down. One officer from Upland managed to tackle the driver, while "other officers dealt with the passengers," as stated in a post by the Upland Police Department on X. The pursuit caused damage along the way, sideswiping two Montclaire police units and other vehicles parked on the street. The Upland Police Department celebrated the joint efforts in a statement, "Great job again, MPD & OPD. Different patches, same team."

Police have reported that the suspects are now in custody with the Montclair Police Department. The series of events, particularly the tackling of the fleeing driver and subsequent arrest of the passengers, highlighted the collaborative nature of local law enforcement despite the boundary of city limits or different police department insignias. Aftercare for the affected residents and investigation of the extent of the damages provoked by the chase remains underway.
