Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced today that three 18-year-olds are now facing charges in connection with the death of Oakland County Sheriff’s deputy Bradley Reckling, who was fatally shot in Detroit last summer. The teens, identified as Marquis Lamar Goins of Detroit, Karim Blake Moore, and Raymone Raylee Debose, both from Clinton Township, have been implicated in a wider car theft ring operating across Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties since November 2023, according to FOX 2 Detroit.
Detailed examinations of social media posts, cell phone, and video records led authorities to the suspects, with Goins and Moore allegedly present with Debose during the shooting, said Worthy, to arraign them Wednesday via Zoom at the 36th District Court. The case, characterized by its breadth of evidence and complexities, reflects a combined effort between the Detroit Police Department and local law enforcement agencies, which extended beyond the initial investigation into Reckling's death and unveiled a broader criminal operation that unfolded from carjackings to violent confrontations, and finally, the senseless murder of Deputy Reckling "Holding the individuals accountable in the senseless murder of Deputy Brad Reckling is one of our highest priorities,” Sheriff Michael Bouchard mentioned in a statement, as reported by The Detroit News, delineating a narrative of law enforcement perseverance and grief that's far more than the loss of an officer, but a husband, a father, a son, a brother.
