A Troy city employee and volunteer firefighter is facing serious allegations after being charged with multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct. Brian Dodoro, 48, was brought before the court with accusations that he assaulted two minors under the age of 13. According to FOX 2 Detroit, Dodoro's arraignment took place on Thursday where he was charged with nine counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Dodoro, who is also a part of the city's public works department, has been placed on leave in the wake of the charges. A judge set his bond at $250,000 and as part of his conditional release, he is required to wear a GPS tether, and he is also ordered to have no contact with the alleged victims, an additional measure to help to ensure their safety and peace of mind. In the eyes of the justice system, it's a reminder that innocence, until proven guilty, doesn't preclude precautions.
The length and nature of the alleged crimes have painted a disturbing picture. "We're looking at a pattern of behavior that allegedly took place over five years," stated the presiding judge during the arraignment, detailed in a report by FOX 2 Detroit.
Investigations concluded by Troy police were presented to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office, which ultimately led to Dodoro's charges. Details from the CBS News Detroit article reveal that, the victim recently broke their silence regarding the assaults, which set off the chain of investigations. Ensuring the impartiality of the legal process, Troy City Manager Frank Nastasi made a point, saying, "The City takes such allegations seriously and will respect the due process being administered by the Court."
Additionally, Nastasi, as cited by The Detroit News, emphasized the "sensitive nature of this investigation" and the commitment to "maintaining such sensitivity to ensure the protection of the victim." If convicted, Dodoro could face life in prison for each count.
