Authorities in the District of Columbia have apprehended two suspects potentially linked to a string of vehicular thefts, encompassing multiple carjackings. In a recent press release by the Metropolitan Police Department, accessible via their official website, detailed accounts of two carjackings and a vehicle theft were disclosed to the public, following a wave of such crimes troubling the community.

One carjacking incident, involving a confrontation and subsequent altercation during the late hours of August 25, resulted in the suspects absconding with the victim's vehicle after the victim confronted them near Piney Branch Road and Georgia Avenue, Northwest. In the August 18 theft, witnessed by the victim, the thieves exploited a moment of opportunity, commandeering the vehicle as the victim was focused on their duties, delivering food in the 1400 block of Morse Street, Northeast, as per the Metropolitan Police Department. A third crime echoed the others, occurring on September 6 in the 1500 block of Gallatin Street, Northwest, where victims were violently coerced from their vehicle which the suspects then stole.

On the heels of these incidents, a breakthrough occurred on October 2, with the MPD announcing the capture of two individuals, Rodre Holloway, 26, of Northeast, D.C., and Shani Burriss, 24, of Northwest, D.C. The two were charged after a steadfast investigation, as communicated in a police statement.

Anyone with insights or information regarding these offenses is urged not to take matters into their own hands, but instead reach out to the police at (202) 727-9099, or anonymously send their tip through the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411.
