After Hurricane Milton, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is providing support to Charlotte residents affected by the storm. The Operation Blue Roof program has been activated and will run until Nov. 5. This program offers free fiber-reinforced sheeting to cover damaged roofs. Homeowners in Charlotte directly impacted by the hurricane can use this no-cost option to protect their homes while they plan for repairs, according to the Charlotte County.
The program is designed for homeowners and tenants in permanently occupied rental properties, providing strong temporary solutions. To qualify, the residence must have been affected by the hurricane, and roof damage must be less than 50 percent to ensure safe and effective installation of the temporary cover, as reported by the Charlotte County.
The deadline to apply for the Operation Blue Roof program is approaching quickly, so affected residents should act soon. To get assistance, they can visit blueroof.gov or call 888-ROOF-BLU (888-766-3258), as noted by the Charlotte County website. This U.S. government-funded service, managed by the Army Corps, provides temporary roofing solutions to help homeowners keep their homes dry while they work on repairs.
