The University of Minnesota has announced Gregg Goldman as their new executive vice president for Finance and Operations. Bringing over three decades of experience to the table, Goldman's appointment is pending the approval of the Board of Regents, which is slated for discussion during their October 10 meeting, as reported by the University of Minnesota. Goldman, who comes with a robust background at some of the nation's top research universities with medical centers, is set to begin his tenure on November 11.
"To contribute in all of the ways Minnesotans expect the University of Minnesota to advance our state, we need incredibly talented, experienced and committed leaders, and Gregg Goldman fits that description perfectly," University of Minnesota President Rebecca Cunningham said. Goldman’s most recent role was as chief financial officer and senior vice president of finance for Hillspire, LLC, stepping in with a wealth of insight from his previous stints at other public research universities including UCLA and the University of Arizona.
His experience is particularly relevant to the U of M, as he has previously managed similar roles that demand an intensive grasp over finances and operations – such as his work at leading institutions with their own medical centers. The U of M, with its expansive operating budget and significant staff, will benefit from the portfolio of skills Goldman acquired through his time managing annual budgets as large as $9.8 billion at UCLA, which, like U of M is recognized for its over $1 billion in annual research expenditures.
The step into this executive role at the University of Minnesota is a continuation of Goldman’s commitment to enhancing public research universities. "I’m excited to join the University of Minnesota, President Cunningham, the leadership team, and be a part of our strong future ahead," Goldman told Twin Cities UMN News.
