The Vallejo Police Department has arrested in connection with a homicide that occurred on September 6. The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Omar David Molina Mendoza of Vallejo, is charged with murder following the death of a woman who was found shot at the scene of a car collision earlier last month.
According to the details released by the Vallejo Police Department, officers responded quickly to an incident at the intersection of Tennessee Street and Mare Island Way around 12:27 AM, where they discovered a 2005 white Honda Accord involved in a single-vehicle collision. The investigation has since determined the female driver, who was the sole occupant, suffered from at least one gunshot wound. Life-saving efforts to extricate and save the woman were ultimately unsuccessful, and she was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A thorough investigation led by the Vallejo Police Department's Detective Division subsequently identified Molina Mendoza as the person responsible for the homicide. Information provided by the Vallejo Police Department notes that at the time of his arrest for this crime, Molina Mendoza was already in custody at the Solano County Jail on unrelated charges that occurred after the homicide date.
The Solano County District Attorney’s Office has formally charged Molina Mendoza with murder.
