Quick actions by Vallejo Police Department officers following an alert from an artificial intelligence-powered gunshot detection system recently led to an arrest and the seizure of an unregistered firearm. As detailed in a social media post by the Vallejo Police Department, last Saturday, multiple calls were received concerning an individual brandishing a weapon next to a red vehicle in a parking lot on Tennessee Street.
Simultaneously, Flock Safety Raven's real-time gunshot detector notification signaled that a shot had been fired in the same vicinity. Upon arrival of the officers, a man was found standing by an unoccupied red car with spent casings visible on the ground. During their interaction with the suspect, they confirmed the presence of a gun in his jacket pocket as he spontaneously admitted to its possession.
The Vallejo Police Department took the male into custody and confiscated the firearm, an unregistered piece, from the suspect. He was later booked into the county jail, with the gun and casings kept as evidence.
