A tense standoff in Waukesha came to a close on Saturday evening, with one man taken into custody after hours of police engagement. The ordeal began with a domestic violence report and ended with officers resorting to tactical measures, including the use of explosives, brute force, and drones, FOX6 News reports.

A large police deployment was noted near the intersection of South Moreland Boulevard and American Avenue, CBS 58 confirmed. Officers, along with K9 units and Waukesha's Police Rescue vehicle had responded to the scene late Saturday afternoon. The Waukesha Police Department stated that the suspect had earlier choked and threatened to kill the victim and, while no weapons had been displayed during the initial altercation, the suspect was believed to have access to a firearm.

According to TMJ4, after the victim's escape from the property, the suspect pursued her and unsuccessfully attempted to coerce her into his vehicle. Upon the arrival of law enforcement at the residence, the suspect refused to comply with officer commands and retreated back into the home, barricading himself inside.

The standoff ensued, culminating in the suspect's arrest. During the operation, cameras caught the apprehended individual with injuries to the head. Furthermore, an officer was also reported injured in the confrontation, and yet another officer sustained injuries, FOX6 News detailed. The individual in question is currently detained as authorities continue their investigation into the incident.
