The Woodstock Police Department is preparing for its 41st annual National Night Out event, scheduled for this coming Tuesday. The event will begin at 5 p.m. and conclude at 8 p.m., aiming to foster connections between community members and law enforcement on the Woodstock Arts Event Green at 111 Elm Street in downtown Woodstock, according to an announcement from the Woodstock official government website.
National Night Out, known for its goal of fostering police-community partnerships and neighborhood solidarity, aims to create safer and more supportive communities. This year's event will include a variety of engaging activities, such as K-9 demonstrations, inflatable bounce houses for children, and a range of public safety equipment on display. Children of all ages are invited, and numerous activities will be available to keep them entertained.
Woodstock Police Chief Robert Jones expressed his enthusiasm for the event, telling the Woodstock government website, "Woodstock Police Department is excited to host National Night Out because this event strengthens the relationship between residents and local law enforcement and that fosters a true sense of community."
The event will not only showcase the efforts of the Woodstock Police Department but also involve numerous partner agencies, including the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Homeland Security, and the Drug Enforcement Administration, among others. Additionally, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, Marshal’s Office, School Police, Cherokee County E-911, the Emergency Management Agency, and the Woodstock Fire Department will participate in this collaborative effort. Local businesses and organizations dedicated to enhancing the community will also be present.
