In the wake of Hurricane Helene’s devastation, the City of Woodstock has collaborated with First Baptist Woodstock to extend a support to those impacted in the neighboring counties. They are calling for public assistance in accumulating relief supplies for the victims now struggling to rebuild their lives in Bulloch and Coffee counties in Georgia, as well as McDowell County in North Carolina.
For those looking to contribute, the lower level of the B-Building at First Baptist Woodstock (11905 Highway 92, Woodstock, GA 30188) has been transformed into a donation center. Following the disaster, the center opened yesterday and will continue to receive donations during the specified times: Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. The First Baptist Woodstock serves also as a beacon of communal cooperation in times of dire need.
The items being requested are basic necessities, yet are urgently needed by storm victims. The list of needed items is specific and reflects a humanitarian outlook, focusing on essentials such as water, non-perishable foods, baby supplies, and practical clothing. The call is for new items only, ensuring that those affected receive goods in the best possible condition to maintain dignity during their time of distress.
Some essential items listed by the city include gallons and bottles of water, a variety of canned goods, dry staples like rice and beans, and a range of new clothing items from underwear to jackets. Also on the request list are new sleeping bags, blankets, air mattresses, and other items crucial for those whom have lost so much to immediately regain a semblance of normalcy in their lives. Even new, empty 5-gallon gas cans and portable propane tanks are requested.
This synergy between the City of Woodstock and First Baptist is an embodiment of community unity, prompting the citizens to act as a collective in the face of tragedy.
