Early Friday morning, a routine traffic stop in Rocklin led to the arrest of a young driver for possessing an illegal firearm. The Rocklin Police Department reported that at around 2:12 AM, an officer identified as Officer Erby conducted a stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. There were four passengers inside, all of whom were found to be under the age of 21, along with an open container in plain view.
During their investigation, the police conducted a search and discovered a loaded ghost gun beneath the driver's seat and a large-capacity magazine in the center console. Such firearms are often called 'ghost guns' because they lack serial numbers and are difficult to trace. The driver was quickly taken into custody. The other three passengers were not detained but were rather released to the custody of their families. It is not immediately clear if there will be any further investigations or charges relating to the traffic stop or the other individuals involved. The Rocklin Police Department utilized the incident to reinforce their message about safety, thanking the community for its support. "This serves as a reminder that we’re here to keep our community safe! Thank you all for your continued support!" they stated.
