A 103-year-old woman was injured when a buck unexpectedly broke into her room at an assisted living facility in Michigan. The startling event occurred at the Arbor North Living Center in Blackman Township just north of Jackson on Monday evening, November 4th. According to CBS News, the Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety reported that the deer entered the facility by jumping through a glass window in the resident's bedroom.
Facility staff could not enter the woman's room to check on her condition due to the buck's presence, as it had locked itself inside with her. To address the urgent situation, responding officers observed the deer through a sliding glass door on the patio, which was also locked. "One of the officers broke the glass of the door, which allowed the deer to escape into nearby woods," as described in the report by CBS News.
Following the animal's departure, authorities discovered the centenarian with injuries that were thankfully not life-threatening. She received immediate medical attention on the scene before being taken to the hospital for further care. WLNS reported that the woman was found "conscious and alert and received medical attention on site before being transported to Henry Ford Jackson Emergency Room with non-life-threatening injuries."
The Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety has not shared more details about the woman's condition or how the deer got into the building.
