A 25-year-old man's life came to a sudden end when he was shot in the back outside a Bronx apartment building, law enforcement sources reported Sunday. The shooting occurred on E. 233rd St. near White Plains Road in the Wakefield area around 10:35 p.m. Saturday. Authorities dispatched to the scene found the man with a life-threatening wound, he was promptly taken to Jacobi Medical Center, but alas, his injuries proved fatal and his identity has yet to be disclosed, NY Daily News details.
A separate report by AMNY adds insight into the events preceding the violence, stating that the gunfire followed an argument between two men. The suspect, described as donning a black jacket, gray sweatshirt, gray pants, and white sneakers, fled the scene on foot. No arrests have been made, and the police are actively seeking information on the suspect's whereabouts.
Murders in the 47th Precinct have dropped from ten last year to six, but gun violence in the Bronx has increased. NYPD data shows an 11% rise in shooting victims, from 345 in 2023 to 383 this year.
The search for the gunman is ongoing, and police urge anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers by phone or online. Authorities assure the public that all tips are kept confidential.
