Authorities have made an arrest in connection with a Northeast homicide that occurred earlier this fall. The victim, identified as 44-year-old Erik Mewborn from the district, was found deceased with a gunshot wound on Adams Place.
As reported by the Metropolitan Police Department, officers arrived on the scene on September 14 after receiving a report of a man down just after 5 a.m. They discovered Mewborn unconscious and were unable to revive him. After being dispatched, DC Fire and EMS declared the male dead, having found no signs consistent with life.
The arrest took place yesterday, when members of the Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force acted on a warrant issued by the DC Superior Court. The suspect, 25-year-old Jeremiah Simms from Capitol Heights, MD, was taken into custody.
