The Arlington Police Department is contacting the public to help identify a suspect accused of theft and leaving a local Kroger grocery store without paying for groceries. In a case of apparent forgetfulness turned into an opportunity for crime, a victim accidentally left their cell phone at a self-checkout register, only for the following customer to allegedly commit theft.
Officials described the incident, stating "This suspect was next to use the register, picked up the victim's cell phone, and put it in a bag." According to the Arlington Police Department's social media post, the suspect proceeded to not only bag the groceries but also leave the store without endeavoring to pay for them. Surveillance cameras captured the event, which snapped clear shots of the individual in question.
In their appeal for assistance, the Arlington Police Department has circulated the images on various platforms, engaging the community with a post titled "WHO'S THAT WEDNESDAY?". The department hopes that someone will recognize the suspect and come forward with information that could lead to their identification and subsequent resolution of the case.
Those who may have any information regarding the suspect are urged to immediately contact Detective Bucek at (817) 459-6467. Concerned or informed citizens may also choose to stay anonymous and can submit tips to Crime Stoppers of Tarrant County at (817) 469-8477.
