Residents of Atlanta can expect to navigate through patches of fog this morning until around 10 am, after which the skies are slated to be partly sunny with a high near 80 degrees. For those planning evening outings, the weather is set to transition to mostly cloudy skies with a calm east wind, which may occasionally gust up to 15 mph, cooling the temperatures down to a low around 59, according to the National Weather Service.
As the weekend progresses, Atlantans should prepare to witness a cooler Sunday with partly sunny skies and a high near 72. The east wind is expected to pick up, partially gusting as high as 20 mph. Moving into Sunday night, the city will again be under the embrace of mostly cloudy conditions and a consistent east breeze, which is set to persist into Monday as well. The forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies once more, with gusts maintaining their strength and temperatures slightly cooler, peaking near 69 degrees.
The pattern of clouds is anticipated to continue through Tuesday, with highs hovering around the 75-degree mark. However, the clearer skies aren't here to stay. The onset of isolated showers after 2 am Tuesday night marks the beginning of a wetter phase, with a 20% chance of precipitation increasing to scattered showers and a higher likelihood of rain as the week advances. The chances of precipitation will climb, reaching a 40% probability for sporadic showers Wednesday night. Thursday also promises a similar pattern, though the day might yield more sun, hitting highs near 78 with a continued chance of rain at 30%.
As Atlantans reach the tail end of the week, they can ready themselves to begrudgingly shake off the rain. Isolated showers are forecasted for Thursday night with a low chance of precipitation. But the skies are largely expected to clear up by Friday, heralding a mostly sunny day with comfortable highs in the mid-70s, offering a perfect breather from the preceding damp days.
