A 68-year-old substitute teacher was arrested on solicitation charges after an investigation by the Battle Creek Police Department (BCPD) which began following a complaint made on October 29 involving alleged inappropriate conduct between him and an elementary school student. Leslie Eric Miller, the accused, is expected to be arraigned today, WZZM 13 reported.

Pending the arraignment, Miller faces charges that he had engaged in "inappropriate communication" with the student, it's to note the allegations indicate that no physical contact took place but the nature of the solicitation charge seems to suggest a boundary was purportedly crossed and while Miller was a substitute teacher in the Lakeview School District, according to FOX 17 News.

The Lakeview School District has responded by initiating their own internal investigation to determine if any district policies and protocols were not followed. Meanwhile, the BCPD hasn't ruled out the possibility of other victims and is prompt to encourage anyone with information to contact them at 269.781.0911, a statement obtained by WOODTV.

As the district works to address this challenging situation, Miller remains in Calhoun County Jail, and though details surrounding the specificities of the "inappropriate communication" are scarce the district has assured that they are committed to the health and wellbeing of their community, a district spokesperson adding "teachers and staff are dedicated to creating a safe and positive academic environment where all students can thrive and grow," WOODTV highlighted in a report on the situation.
