The City of Bellevue is calling community members to step up by applying for positions on the advisory team for its Bellevue Centers Communities of Color (CCC) initiative. In an effort to promote racial equity and increase trust among the city's varied demographics, applications are now being accepted for the volunteer-based CCC Coordinating Team. As reported today, those interested have until Dec. 10 to apply, which can be done through multiple means: online or via email or mail.
Launched following council approval in 2021, the CCC initiative focuses on advancing racial literacy, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring equitable opportunities for all residents of Bellevue. Team members of the initiative are responsible for providing recommendations and collaborating to develop strategies that address the needs of Bellevue's diverse populations. "We believe it's critical we hear from Bellevue’s diverse voices as the city continues to grow and change," stated City Manager Diane Carlson, according to the city's release.
Bellevue officials, including Mayor Lynne Robinson, are looking for a variety of applicants from different backgrounds and experiences to ensure a wide range of perspectives. "In every thing we do, Bellevue strives for a city environment that truly embraces racial equity and diversity," Mayor Robinson proclaimed, according to the city's release, highlighting the importance of such initiatives in structuring city policy.
The city states that the input of its residents is vital to its development and reflects Bellevue's commitment to inclusivity and progress. "This initiative is a vital part of Bellevue’s mission to create an inclusive city where everyone feels welcome and valued," Carlson further elucidated. For those who wish to be a part of this equitable movement, details about the application criteria are available on the City of Bellevue webpage.
