The incident led to the displacement of seven people and resulted in one resident needing transportation by EMS. Working at the scene to determine the cause of the fire, the Boston Fire Department's Fire Investigation Unit (BFD-FIU) was joined by the Inspectional Services Department (ISD). The effective response from firefighters likely prevented the fire from escalating into a more catastrophic event. Having been on the scene, the ISD and BFD-FIU are still investigating to understand what ignited the blaze.
No fatalities were reported, but the swift spread of the fire serves as another grim reminder of the ever-present danger posed by residential fires, especially as the colder months approach and Boston residents find themselves more reliant on heating equipment. The Boston Fire Department has not yet released the name or condition of the resident who was transported by EMS, but an update is expected as the investigation progresses.
