Early morning efforts by Boston police led to the arrest of two individuals in connection with a series of stolen mopeds, a discovery made following a call reporting a person with a gun yesterday. According to a report from the Boston Police Department, officers arrived on the scene around 8:36 AM in the Mattapan neighborhood, where they encountered the suspects later identified as Sebastian Fecu, 22, of Dorchester, and Nakeda Strothers, 32, of Roxbury.
The incident began when the victim, using a tracking device, located his stolen moped at 22 Abbot Street along with a friend's moped. Two suspects, later identified by police, attempted to reclaim the bikes, displaying firearms in their waistbands, which intimidated the moped owners. Police were called to the scene and found the suspects at the location. Officers also discovered multiple mopeds and parts, suggesting a larger operation. The suspects were arrested inside a residence, while others at the scene were determined to be uninvolved and released.
A coordinated search by the Auto Theft Unit resulted in the seizure of several mopeds and parts, indicating a large theft operation. At least one moped was returned to its owner. Fecu and Strothers are facing charges of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) and Larceny of an Auto Over $250. They are scheduled for arraignment in Dorchester District Court.
