A former employee of Neshaminy Kids Club in Bucks County was sentenced to a significant prison term for sexual assault against minors. Gerald William Spoto, 42, received a sentence ranging from 35 to 88 years in state prison last Friday after pleading guilty to his crimes.
Pleading guilty this past July to nearly three dozen counts, most of which are felonies, Spoto, hailing from Bristol Township, faced justice in a courtroom where the weight of his actions was laid bare. During the sentencing, over a dozen victim impact statements described the lasting impacts of Spoto’s abuse, according to information from Bucks County's official announcement.
The courtroom was filled with victims and their families, who conveyed the extent of their trauma to Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey L. Finley. This overflow of emotion and pain was a testament to the years of abuse they suffered at the hands of Spoto. Through these statements, it became evident that the assault reverberates far beyond the initial acts, leaving deep emotional and psychological scars.
