Bucks County has proposed a $498.7 million operating budget for 2025, a 2.4 percent increase from the previous year. Most of the budget, about 75 percent, will go toward public safety, health, housing, and human services.
Bucks County’s budget challenges stem from rising workforce salaries and benefits. Chief Financial Officer David Boscola explained, "As with previously proposed budgets, increases in workforce salaries and benefits pose the greatest challenge in presenting a balanced budget." The Finance Department and Commissioners will continue working to adjust the budget while maintaining county operations, according to the Bucks County website.
The budget process isn’t finished yet. The commissioners are reviewing the proposed 2025 budget and will hold a public hearing for questions and comments. The final budget is expected to be voted on December 18.
The proposed budget is available for residents to review on the county's website, with details on spending for areas like aging services, mental health, elections, social work, emergency services, parks, and the justice system. The budget also includes funding for the nine elected row offices. You can view the full document online on the Bucks County website.
