The Colorado Department of Transportation is set to begin overnight repair work on sections of I-25 and US Highway 50, an effort that aims to mend and maintain critical infrastructure for travelers in Pueblo. According to CDOT, southbound I-25 at US 50 (exit 100A) will experience lane closures, and westbound US 50 at Bonforte Boulevard will be fully closed temporarily.
This construction is scheduled for two consecutive nights, starting on Thursday, Nov. 14, and concluding on Friday, Nov. 15, running from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. each evening. Motorists will need to be prepared for southbound I-25 to be reduced to one lane at US 50 and, for a full closure of westbound US 50 at Bonforte Boulevard. Travelers are advised to plan and consider alternative routes during these times, as delays are expected.
CDOT has put in place detour routes to assist drivers during the temporary closure. For those needing to navigate around the westbound US 50 closure, detour options include taking the CO 47 exit at US 50 Mile Point 319 to reach I-25 or turning right on Bonforte Boulevard, then left on Jerry Murphy Road to access CO 47, and finally returning to I-25.
The department's communication emphasizes that the closures are essential for bridge maintenance, guardrail repair, sand barrel replacement, and road surface repair. The repair work signifies the ongoing commitment to ensuring that transportation infrastructure remains safe and reliable for all who traverse these roads. As infrastructure ages, such closures become a necessary inconvenience, one that promises smoother travel upon completion.
