As Veterans Day approaches, Charlotte County is preparing for a deserved pause to honor our military veterans with various government offices and facilities altering their usual schedules for Monday next week. According to Charlotte County's announcement, the closures will include the Charlotte County Administration Center as well as the local branches of the Charlotte County UF/IFAS Extension and the Charlotte Harbor Event and Conference Center Offices.
The Utilities Department customer service offices will be closed, but residents can pay their bills online or by phone at 941-764-4300. Standby staff will be available for any utility emergencies. Curbside garbage collection will continue as usual, and both the West Charlotte and Mid-County transfer stations, along with the Zemel Road Landfill, will remain open.
Charlotte County libraries, including the Mid-County Regional Library and Port Charlotte Public Library, will be closed for the day. Recreational centers like the Ann & Chuck Dever Regional Park and Centennial Park Recreation Center will also pause activities in observance of the day. However, Captain Don Cerbone Memorial Skate Park will remain open for those looking to skate.
Charlotte County Transit services will be paused, and all Human Services Offices and Fire & EMS Headquarters will be closed. However, all other fire stations will remain operational.
