Charlotte residents in the Eastway Division faced a grim scene yesterday afternoon as the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) launched a homicide investigation after responding to an incident on Eastcrest Drive. According to CMPD's official statement, officers arrived at 1600 block of Eastcrest Drive around 3:30 p.m. following a call about an assault with a deadly weapon.
Upon their arrival, they found a person suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by MEDIC. The CMPD Homicide Unit, along with Crime Scene Search, immediately took charge, processing the scene, and gathering physical evidence.
