The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit has added a grim new dimension to the case of Jameisha Wilkes, a 33-year-old woman whose life came to a violent end earlier this month. Detectives disclosed on November 14 that Wilkes, who was tragically killed, was also pregnant at the time of her death, a fact that led to the expansion of charges against the accused, Dasean Maddox, 32.
Maddox was already facing allegations of Murder and Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, according to official reports by the CMPD. Following this revelation the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office, on Monday, advanced the case to the grand jury, with the added charge of Murder of an Unborn Child.
The unfolding investigation into the events that resulted in the loss of Wilkes and her unborn child remains active, and officials have indicated that they will be issuing updates as more information becomes available. Individuals with any knowledge pertinent to this heinous crime are encouraged to come forward and speak directly with a Homicide Unit detective or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
At the helm of this case is Detective Trietley, who is dealing with the finer threads of the inquiry in hopes of uncovering the full narrative that culminated in such sorrow. The CMPD’s Public Affairs Office remains the primary point of contact for public information.
