Memphis residents can expect a mix of frosty mornings and increasing clouds today with the temperature hovering near the 50-degree mark. The National Weather Service in Memphis reported a light south-southeast wind that will become a south-southwest breeze at 5 to 10 mph as the day progresses. Those early risers felt the chill with widespread frost before 9 a.m., as the humidity remained high at 81%.

As night falls, areas of frost will continue to appear, partly because of the clear skies and a low temperature dropping to around 33 degrees. A south wind of around 5 mph is predicted to shift to a north-northwest after midnight. Residents will need to bundle up once more as the mercury dips and might want to take steps to protect sensitive plants from the cold.

Heading into Sunday, NWS Memphis forecasts a sunny day after the widespread morning frost clears, with daytime highs near 46 degrees and a calm north wind. Frost will make a return appearance on Sunday night, spreading widely mainly after 10 p.m., with the lows settling at about 26 degrees.

Next week's outlook seems to consistently present a pattern of frosty mornings and sunny days. Monday through Tuesday, days will start with widespread frost before warming up to highs in the low 40s. The calm conditions are expected to give way to a south breeze around 5 mph by Tuesday. This tranquility in the weather is a gentle reminder to take our time and appreciate the crisp environment.

Changes are on the horizon by mid-week, with Wednesday bringing a slight 20 percent chance of showers in the afternoon and moving into the night. Despite temperatures rising to a more comfortable 55 degrees, the increased cloud cover and the possibility of light showers could serve as a harbinger of cooler, wetter conditions to come, as even greater chances for showers are predicted towards the end of the week.
