Two men were arrested in connection with the illegal operation of a chop shop, as confirmed by the Shelby County Sheriff's Office. The arrests came after a property was raided on Melodywood Drive in the Airport Area as part of an auto theft investigation. According to a report by Action News 5, the residence in question yielded not only a Dodge Challenger, reported stolen in October, but also a collection of various car parts and tools.
During the search operation on Tuesday, Homer Davis, aged 21, was apprehended by the detectives at the scene. The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office elaborated that the findings at the property are indicative of a chop shop being active. Meanwhile, Terrion Cobb, 19, was arrested by the Desoto County investigators with charges linked to prior auto theft crimes. As per WREG, Cobb faces multiple charges including aggravated assault, eluding law enforcement, and auto theft.
Additional details from FOX13 Memphis highlighted the community's awareness of unusual activity at the property. Neighbors had observed a conspicuous number of cars being worked on at odd hours. "They would pull cars over there and just work on them all night," shared Anthony Copeland, a local resident.
Both Davis and Cobb are now behind bars, linked to this investigation. According to the charges filed, Davis is accused of violation a chop shop and theft of property ranging from $10,000 to $60,000. The ongoing nature of this investigation suggests that additional arrests and charges may be forthcoming. This collaborative effort between Shelby and Desoto County authorities underscores a continued vigilance against automotive theft and related illegal activities in the region.
