Power has been trickling back to City Light customers after a severe outage swept through the area. In a recent update, the utility company has made it clear that they are throwing all resources into getting the lights back on, as over 110,000 patrons have had their service restored since the initial blackout. According to an official update from City Light, "restoring electricity to homes and businesses is our highest priority and we are committed to restoring your power as quickly and safely as possible."

As of the latest communication, 21 remaining outages affecting more than a handful of customers each have teams assigned to them. The utility crews are progressing through these systematically, and as they finish up with one, they're moving on to the next. Specific estimated times of restoration (ETORs) are being provided as the situations are assessed, although these remain preliminary. In an online post, City Light added, "Once crews complete a restoration, they will move on to those remaining."

Initially, the focus was on restoring key facilities, such as hospitals and schools, to safeguard community well-being. However, City Light points out that current repair efforts are complex, as the remaining outages are coupled with complications such as downed trees and blocked roads. To ramp up efforts, mutual aid has been called in from neighboring utilities, reinforcing the local teams.

Updated ETORs can now be found on City Light's outage map, but the company emphasizes that these are estimates and subject to change. "We apologize for the continued inconvenience," City Light stated as they urged customers to stay vigilant, referencing today's blustery conditions which might lead to further issues. The utility provider has also made resources available via their blog post on Outage Tips, and for those outside of Seattle, King County has provided a list of resources to help residents cope during the power interruptions.
