A Collierville Middle School teacher is currently suspended and under investigation by the Collierville Police and the school district. However, the details of the allegations remain confidential.
On Wednesday, police interacted with an unnamed teacher on the school campus, leading to an investigation described as a "potential situation." While no charges or arrests have been made, the involvement of authorities has raised concerns among parents and students, who are seeking clarity and assurance. The school district is also conducting its own investigation alongside the police, according to Action News 5.
One parent told WREG, "I'm not surprised because I feel like unfortunately, the principal is more concerned with appearances than her students' safety." Allegations include inappropriate requests made by the teacher, such as asking girls to do jumping jacks and have private lunches in his office. The school and police have not confirmed these details. Some parents also noted that there have been previous complaints against the teacher, who started at Collierville Middle School in August.
School principal Anita Swindle reassured families in a message stating, "and we are committed to a thorough and impartial review of the situation," as reported by FOX13. However, the teacher's identity and details of any allegations are still being withheld while investigators continue their inquiries.
