A tragic turn of events unfolded in Rockville on the morning of October 30 when Luis Rios Chirinos, a 28-year-old from Gaithersburg, was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Veirs Mill Road. According to Montgomery County Police, Chirinos was hit by a black Lexus GS as he made his way from the median of the thoroughfare.
The driver of the Lexus, whose identity has not been revealed, stayed at the scene of the accident and is fully cooperating with police in their investigation as they worked to piece together the events that unfolded early in the morning, just as the sun prepared to make its daily debut over the horizon. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, and Chirinos, who suffered severe injuries, was promptly transported to an area hospital for treatment.
