Yesterday, 22-year-old Michael Singleton, previously convicted of aggravated assault, was arrested in North Versailles, bringing an end to his status as a fugitive sought for a probation violation. As reported by WPXI, the Allegheny County Sheriff's Office confirmed that Singleton had been eluding authorities since a bench warrant was issued on Sept. 22.
Singleton's encounter with the law began after he pleaded guilty to aggravated assault charges in 2022, subsequently leading to a probation sentence. Later violations included being found with a handgun as a passenger in a vehicle police stopped, according to details from CBS News Pittsburgh. An additional warrant was issued after the firearms violation was discovered in McKeesport.
The information came to light, leading detectives to Singleton's location. He was believed to be residing at a friend's house on Greensburg Pike in North Versailles. Determining his whereabouts became a pivotal point in the case, prompting law enforcement to take action.
Police arrested Singleton peacefully on Saturday morning at the residence without incident. He is now in custody at the Allegheny County Jail, awaiting legal proceedings.
