Suffolk County Judge Katie Rayburn handed down a severe sentence to convicted serial sex offender Ronald Brown, 60, who will face 72 to 105 years behind bars for a string of aggressive home invasions and sexual assaults dating back to 2016. According to a release from the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office, Brown's conviction came on 21 charges, including aggravated rape, kidnapping, and breaking and entering, among others.

During sentencing, Brown showed defiance, shouting an expletive at Judge Rayburn and lashing out at court officers. His behavior followed his partial absence during the trial, where he chose to attend via Zoom and disconnected during the verdict. Victims and jurors saw his blatant disregard for the justice process.

Brown's criminal history includes a previous 25- to 30-year state prison sentence for similar offenses, which were followed by additional infractions like assaulting a correctional officer and charging the jury box during his trial.

On multiple occasions in late September and early October 2016, he forcibly entered the homes of several women in Boston's South End, committing theft and in one case, a brutal rape while uttering hate speech based on the victim's Chinese heritage. The discovery of personal items linked to the crimes, including a pill bottle with Brown’s name and his cellphone, which contained incriminating evidence such as video and photographs of the victims, ultimately led to his downfall and arrest at the Pine Street Inn shelter.

Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden praised the judicial process, particularly commending the survivors for their resilience and courage in facing their assailant and contributing to the conviction. In victim impact statements, one survivor described the ongoing effects of Brown’s crimes, highlighting the lasting emotional toll and the sense of safety that was taken from them.
