Dallas residents, it's time to brace for a weather rollercoaster this week, with a forecast featuring everything from severe storms to sunny skies. According to the National Weather Service, today's conditions will include showers and thunderstorms, hitting a high near 80 degrees with a south wind thrusting between 10 to 20 mph, capable of gusts reaching 30 mph. These stormy patterns come with a certainty set at 100%, and Dallas can expect between three-quarters and one inch of new rainfall.
Moving into tonight, the likelihood of continued showers and thunderstorms hangs at around 70% before tapering down after 3 a.m., easing into a cooler low of around 56. The wind, however, is shifting—from southwest to southeast come evening, moderating between 5 to 10 mph. For those looking ahead, Tuesday is offering a reprieve from the wet chaos with just a 30% chance of morning showers and a promise of clear skies as the day matures, cresting at a pleasant 68 degrees.
Midweek predictions maintain Wednesday's sunshine with temperatures gliding near 72 degrees. But, as Thursday looms, forecasters at the National Weather Service have flagged another spell of potentially hazardous weather for Dallas. The dicey conditions are anticipated to begin on Thursday, carrying on into the weekend. Showers—potentially clashing with thunderstorms—appear back on the calendar with a solid 60% chance during the day and a milder 40% by night.
But before we look too far forward, today's immediate threat looms large. The Hazardous Weather Outlook issued early this morning starkly outlines the day's risk for North and Central Texas. "Widespread thunderstorms are expected to develop over much of North and Central Texas during the day today. Severe weather, including damaging winds, tornadoes, and hail will all be possible. The greatest severe threat will materialize generally along/east of I-35 this afternoon and evening," the outlook warns. Despite this, the outlook does not expect the need for spotter activation at this time.
