As turkey-centric festivities loom, city workers in Dallas will enjoy a brief respite next week to celebrate Thanksgiving. The City of Dallas announced that its Park & Recreation administrative offices, maintenance facilities, and recreation centers will pause their daily grind in observance of the holiday.
Notably, the closures are not exclusive to just one day of feasting. While inhaling their pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving, citizens can expect that these facilities won't be accessible today.
According to the same source, the shutdown follows the city's protocol for federal holidays, as the Dallas Park & Recreation had also previously turned off its lights on November 11th for Veterans Day. This continuity in policy reflects an established practice of respecting national days of remembrance and celebration by providing city employees with allocated time off.
However, starting tomorrow, all facilities will reopen and return to normal operations, ready to serve the community after a short break.
