As the scent of pumpkin pie and the sound of football commentaries begin to permeate the air, the City of Dallas is also getting into the Thanksgiving spirit by announcing the closure of its parks and recreation facilities. In a bulletin released by the City of Dallas, all administrative offices, maintenance facilities, and recreation centers will take a holiday hiatus next Thursday to observe the quintessentially American holiday of Thanksgiving.
To the dismay of some local fitness enthusiasts and families looking for communal spaces during the break, these closures mean that any plans for turkey trots or impromptu football games in the city's recreation centers will need to be postponed. The announcement, posted on the City of Dallas website, clearly states that the closures will be in place for November 24. In a separate but equally important note, the City also highlighted that similar shutdowns were in effect earlier this month on November 11, in observance of Veterans Day.
Those looking to stay in the loop on when they can next hit the courts or schedule events in Dallas's public spaces can sign up for updates from the City of Dallas. Email notifications are sent out to subscribers providing them with the latest news and announcements – ensuring nobody is left wondering whether they can or can’t access the city's facilities.
