The City and County of Denver have announced that most government offices will be closed in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, Nov. 28, a move that aligns with the usual practice of giving employees time off to celebrate with family and friends. The closure includes the Mayor’s Office, City Council offices, and the key administrative departments such as the Clerk and Recorder’s Office, and the Auditor’s Office. As reported by the City and County of Denver, essential services will continue to operate, with Denver Health remaining open on Thursday, Nov. 28, and emergency responders from the Denver Sheriff, Police, and Fire departments will report for duty as normal.

While the city takes a pause, residents requiring non-emergency auxiliary services should note that the 3-1-1 information line will not be available, however, the website remains operational for online service requests through reporting options and for interacting with the city's new chatbot Sunny, this can be accessed by texting "Hi" to 439311, even as Denver 8 TV continues its scheduled programming which can be checked on their website, according to the City and County of Denver.

Animal-related services will also take a brief hiatus as the Denver Animal Shelter closes its doors on Thanksgiving Day, as per the city's notification. Residents need to be aware that the Night Drop kennels will remain accessible for those who find lost pets during the holiday, and Animal Protection Officers will still be available to tackle emergencies by contacting 911.
