
A tragic incident unfolded late Thanksgiving night on the 6200 block of North Broad Street in Philadelphia's Ogontz neighborhood, where a car, with a woman and two passengers, including a child, crashed into a home's front porch. As reported by CBS News Philadelphia, the accident occurred close to midnight.
The driver, identified as 32-year-old Dominique Truitt, was navigating a 2008 Nissan southbound on Broad Street, past Chelten Avenue when she made an hard left turn and accelerated, causing the vehicle to collide with the porch. Following the crash, authorities responded to the scene and medics from the Philadelphia Fire Department transported the vehicle's occupants to Albert Einstein Medical Center. Sadly, Truitt was pronounced dead just before 1 a.m. on Friday, according to FOX 29 News.
Two passengers, a 34-year-old man and a three-year-old child, were also injured in the crash. The man was initially placed in stable condition, while the child was later transferred to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, where they also remained in stable condition, NBC10 Philadelphia reported. The aftermath of the incident has prompted the Philadelphia Department of Licenses and Inspections to inspect the property, and the police's Crash Investigation Division is still determining the cause of the crash.
While investigators have not released details on what may have led to the fatal collision, the community reckons with the sudden loss and disruption caused by the event. As the investigation continues, locals are left in a state of disbelief and mourning, emphasized in a statement obtained by CBS News Philadelphia.
