
A single-vehicle crash yesterday afternoon left one injured after an SUV struck a utility pole in Allegheny Township, causing disruption and a temporary power outage. The incident occurred off Route 356 near the Crain Road intersection and was photographed by other motorists. Video surfacing showed the sequence of events leading up to the crash, according to a report by WPXI.
The Allegheny Township Police stated the accident happened around 2:30 p.m. The video that was shared with Channel 11 captures a dramatic scene where the vehicle narrowly evades a tree before its eventual collision with the pole. The driver, the sole occupant, was transported to a local hospital. Although the exact cause of the crash is still under investigation by the police, they have not yet identified what led to this incident.
West Penn Power reported an outage affecting approximately 20 customers, with power lines down across all four lanes of traffic following the event. Power restoration was anticipated around 8:30 p.m. for the affected area, as stated in a report by TribLIVE. Emergency personnel remained on site, and a 911 dispatcher confirmed their presence well into the evening at 5:30 p.m., ensuring that the area was secured and the necessary repairs began promptly.
Drivers captured video of the crash, showing the SUV swerving into oncoming lanes before hitting an embankment and crashing into a pole. Thankfully, no other injuries were reported.
