
The streets of Everett were disrupted yesterday afternoon by the sound of gunfire, leading to a swift response from local law enforcement. According to the Everett MA Police facebook post, the incident occurred just before 1:00pm at Tres Gatos on Chelsea St. No victims or injuries were found, leading officers to pursue a person of interest on Otis St.
In a swiftly coordinated action to apprehend the suspect, the Everett Police Dept. engaged North Metro SWAT and a negotiator, working to ensure the safety of nearby residents and mitigating any additional threat. "The residents exited the address voluntarily and the home was cleared," the Everett MA Police stated. The operation culminated around 3:29PM with the suspect being taken into custody without further incident.
Residents of Otis St. faced a temporary closure but were able to return to their daily lives as the street was reopened later on. Police are actively piecing together the episode that unfolded at Tres Gatos and are speaking with the owner, who has been identified as a person of interest to better understand the motivations behind the incident.
Everett Police emphasized that there is no sustained threat to the general public.
