Vallejo witnessed a multi-vehicle collision that turned fatal on Ascot Parkway and Sterling Street yesterday. The Vallejo Police Department reported that a 2004 gray Toyota Solara heading northbound lost control, veered over the median, and struck a white Chevy Traverse before also impacting a blue Nissan Sentra. The sequence of events led to numerous injuries and a fatality, according to a statement on the Vallejo Police Department's social media post.

All involved parties remained at the scene, culminating in the intersection being the final resting place for the damaged vehicles. Transported to a local hospital, the driver of the Toyota sustained injuries reported as non-life-threatening. At the same time, the vehicle's passenger tragically died from sustained injuries, identity withheld pending family notification by the Solano County Sheriff's Coroner's Office. The double impact pushed the Chevy Traverse occupants, a driver and her juvenile passenger, to seek medical evaluation after sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.

The VPD Traffic Division's preliminary investigation does not currently implicate alcohol or drugs in the cause of the collision. This incident marks the ninth traffic fatality in Vallejo in 2024.
