
A tragic incident unfolded yesterday night when a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on Gandy Boulevard in Pinellas Park. The Pinellas Park Police Department responded to the scene around 10:16 p.m. following reports of the collision, as reported by WFLA. The pedestrian was pronounced dead by the Pinellas County Fire Department personnel who also attended the scene.
Further investigations revealed that the pedestrian attempted to quickly cross the road outside of a marked crosswalk. The driver of the involved vehicle remained at the crash site, cooperating with law enforcement. The police have yet to release the identity of the deceased, and at this time, they have not filed criminal charges. The specifics of the crash are still under investigation but what is known is that the collision took place near Lillian and Roberts lanes on Gandy Boulevard, a stretch of road known for its traffic activity. The vehicle involved was described as a small SUV by WTSP. The driver, after hitting the pedestrian, didn't leave the scene and is said to be "fully cooperating" with the ongoing investigation.
