An FDNY fire truck from Ladder 43 was involved in a crash in East Harlem on Thanksgiving night, causing extensive damage to a minivan and a row of Citi Bikes. According to a report from the New York Post, the collision took place around 8:45 p.m. near 112th Street and Third Avenue. Photos from the scene captured the aftermath, showing the white minivan pressed up against a parked vehicle, with both the vehicles and a line of bicycles borne the brunt of the crash.
Aside from the mangled bikes and vehicles, the fire truck could be seen stopped in a courtyard outside an apartment complex, having apparently crashed through part of a black fence on the sidewalk. The Firehouse reported that a civilian was injured in the incident and was transported to Harlem Hospital, although details regarding their condition remained unknown shortly after the incident.
The FDNY has confirmed that the incident is under investigation, yet as of now, little information has been made available regarding the circumstances that led to the crash. The area was left reeling with debris from the collision, and the sight of a fire truck amidst the chaos was a stark contrast to the evening's Thanksgiving celebrations.
